How to Play Yatzy
The goal is to score the most points by rolling five dice to make specific combinations.
Gameplay
- On your turn, you can roll the dice up to 3 times.
- After the first and second roll, you can click dice to "hold" them. Held dice will not be rolled
again.
- After your rolls, choose an available slot on the scoreboard to place your score.
Scoring: Upper Section
- Ones to Sixes: Get the sum of dice showing that number. For example, three 4s in
the "Fours" slot gives 12 points.
- Bonus: If the upper section total is 63 or more, you get a
bonus of 50 points.
Scoring: Lower Section
- 3 and 4 of a kind: At least 3 or 4 dice with the same number. Gives the sum of all
5 dice as points.
- Full House: Three of one number and a pair (e.g. 4, 4, 4, 2, 2). Gives 25
points.
- Small straight: Four dice in sequence (e.g. 1-2-3-4). Gives 30
points.
- Large straight: Five dice in sequence (e.g. 1-2-3-4-5). Gives 40
points.
- Yatzy: All five dice are the same. Gives 50 points.
- Chance: Any combination. Gives the sum of all 5 dice as points.
